Growth is never by chance. It is the result of forces working together.” — James Cash Penny

Dear Friend of the Trail,

Our hearts are full of gratitude. Your support has helped us to progress and to grow by leaps and bounds in just one year.

And what a phenomenal beginning we’ve had!

Last year, we officially launched the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire with an all-day Juneteenth celebration. This year, on June 19, 2018, Governor Sununu officially recognized Juneteenth with an historic proclamation, an acknowledgement of New Hampshire’s commitment to inclusion. True to our mission, we are shining light on a more diverse state history.

Also in June, we were featured as guest speakers at the NH Charitable Foundation’s annual meeting and Valerie Cunningham was recognized by the NH Women’s Foundation for being a trailblazer.

Our documentary film, Shadows Fall North, was aired on PBS television in Maine and Vermont and will be aired on NH Public TV this July. The Trail and Historic New England co-presented the art exhibit, A Life in Color, that features African American artist Richard Haynes. Additionally, earlier this year, we featured 40 of New Hampshire’s Black history stories for a Lenten Program through a grant and partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of NH.

Yes, we are being noticed for our uniquely engaging work, and we are grateful to have you nurturing the roots of our success.

Can we count on you?
