The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire’s 16th Black New England Conference, “Where the Money Resides: An Exploration of Racialized Access and Historic Exclusion from Wealth” is more than deep discussions and stimulating presentations, it also celebrates Black culture, and Black innovation and leadership.
Join us on October 21, and 22, at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, for an experience that will energize and inspire all of us to promote equity and justice in our communities and throughout our state. Highlights of the conference include six panel discussions, and two lunch-time addresses which are also available for virtual attendees, and a special conversation with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi at the in-person only annual awards dinner honoring Jay Williams of the Hartford Foundation for his leadership and commitment to dismantling racism, achieving equity, and improving social and economic
mobility for People of Color.
But that’s not all. Focusing on the development of financial literacy and personal
empowerment, the conference will be not only intellectually nourishing, but also a feast
for the soul.
Reverend Bob Thompson will set the tone for the weekend with introductory remarks on the “Hero’s Journey” and a stirring spiritual hymn, and DJ Mam will spin R&B of the 1990s at the Awards dinner on Friday night. And to complete our journey, Najee Brown and Theater for the People of Eliot, Maine, will close the conference with “Transcending: The Black Effect” a high-energy performance piece demonstrating how Black folks have found creative ways to use music and dance for self-expression and joy even in times of want.
And for those who are able to join us, three pre-conference tours on Thursday October
20, provide further enrichment and a chance to connect with fellow conference attendees.
