You might remember that ten years ago the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire honored some local friends who had participated in the 1963 March on Washington where Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his most famous speech.
This year will be the 60th anniversary of that historic event, so the Black Heritage Trail has planned another very special program to honor those who came before us and those among us who continue to march for justice. The event includes a silent community march, tolling of the bells, remembrance, and song.
9:30am – Meet at John Paul Jones Memorial Site in Kittery
10:00am – Walk from John Paul Jones Memorial Site to African Burying Ground
11:00am – Ringing of the Bells
11:05am – Welcome
11:10am – Reading of “I Have a Dream” speech
11:30am – Reading of the Names of the Enslaved
11:45am – Honoring Those Who March
12:00pm – Closing and Song
