PORTSMOUTH, NH — November 5, 2026 — The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire (BHTNH) will present its final Traveling Tea Talk of 2026 on Sunday, November 15, at Nashua Public Library, bringing a year of community conversations about Black history, culture, and the power of the spoken word to a close.

The afternoon will feature a moderated discussion led by Kevin Pajaro-Mariñez with Professor Darrell Hucks of Keene State College. The program will open with a poetry performance by Shawn Caliber, setting the stage for an engaging exploration of African American history, expression, and cultural legacy.

The discussion will examine the enduring influence of Black voices and the role of storytelling, public speech, and artistic expression in shaping American history. From the antislavery addresses of Frederick Douglass to the influential voices of Sojourner Truth, W.E.B. Du Bois, and Malcolm X, African American oratory has long served as an instrument of resistance, a means of cultural expression, and a powerful force for social and political change.

The November gathering builds on BHTNH's 2026 programming, Echoes of Power: The Tradition of African American Oratory, which explored the influence of Black voices across generations and the continuing importance of public speech in shaping American society.

The Traveling Tea Talks extend the Trail's educational programming beyond Portsmouth, bringing meaningful conversations about Black history and culture to communities throughout New Hampshire. Through dialogue, reflection, and shared learning, the series connects local history to the broader African American experience.

The final Traveling Tea Talk of 2026 will take place Sunday, November 15, at Nashua Public Library. Additional event information and registration details are available at blackheritagetrailnh.org.
