As we celebrate Black History Month during the month of February, and begin the solemn Christian tradition of Lent (the 40 weekdays leading up to Easter), the Episcopal Church of the Diocese of New Hampshire has started a program in partnership with the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire for 2018 that links both these commemorations into one.

For this Lenten observance, the Diocese tasked parishioners to commit to learning about the history of slavery as it took place in New Hampshire and to become more familiar with the forgotten stories of New Hampshire black men and women through a partnership with The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire (BHTNH), encouraging the sharing of these stories within and outside our communities of faith.
